DEREK PRINCE DEFINES REDEMPTION
We need to understand more precisely the meaning of the word redemption. It comes from a verb, to redeem, which means “to buy back” or “to ransom.” Here is an example of what such redemption signifies. Suppose the son of a wealthy man were to be taken by kidnappers, who held him for ransom. If the wealthy father was willing to pay the ransom demanded by the kidnappers, and his son was restored to him, we could say that by paying the demanded price, that wealthy father had “redeemed” his son from the kidnappers. In a very similar manner, Jesus has paid the price to redeem us from the kingdom of Satan.
